Animation of a photo-real blue rabbit. Highly detailed subtletey was required. The challenge was to keep the rabbit alive, breathing and twitching, with out making the motion distracting and over the top. This required very detailed study of reference and keying at times every frame on parts of the body and face.

Animation of a photo-real fox. This job required keeping the performance of the fox 100% realistic while trying to fit the directors brief, adding lots of subtle detail to make it convincing. I also assisted other animators on the team with animation notes and animation tips.

Animation of a photo-real orangutans ‘Maya’ and baby ‘Pixel’. This film was quite a challange. I studied hours of reference and did numerous animation tests. The goal was to keep all performances 100% true to what an orangutan could do while trying to make it act very subtly to meet the directors brief.

Animation of a photo-real jaguar. We were not able to find footage of a big cat walking down stairs. The challenge was to study it’s movement in detail to create a believable walk. Additional changes made to my shots to address agency requests after I had completed my contract on the job.

Post-viz animation and animation test of a large photo-real python sized snake. Although pythons cannot move so fast, a part of the brief was to experiment with how a huge snake might believably be able to travel down stairs at a speed fast enough to persue the actors, using detailed study of photo and video reference.

Character animation of a Vinnie the panda. All animation is key framed from scratch except for the lipsync which was derived from a facial capture system and then slightly modified in animation from the mocap base.

Creature animation of a realistic giraffe calf struggling to get up after being birthed. While trying infuse a little personality, I was required to keep the action as realistic as possible.

Animation of photo-real crabs scuttling and dancing in time with the music in the advertisement. Using reference video to create a realistic walk, I added ‘arm’ gestures choreographed to the music, while keeping the range of motion realistic to how crabs can move their pincer arms.

Animation of a realistic orangutan and a pelican. The challenge with this piece was to keep the main character of the orangutan as reallistic as possible while introducing quite a bit of character via anthoropomorphic acting choices.
